How do you install and weatherproof a load-bearing curb on a composite roof? Whether it’s for an input unit, fan, or other equipment, download our technical drawing for a detailed explanation of the layers required. As well as how they fit together to ensure a reliable and weatherproof finish. Weatherproofing load-bearing curbs When installing equipment on a composite roof, a load-bearing curb should be installed to provide support, as well as to help ensure the roof penetration is weatherproof. Whatever is being installed, the load-bearing curb should be situated at a 90-degree angle to the roof pitch. And the height of the curb from the roof surface should be at least 150mm. Sealing around the load-bearing curb is a key part of ensuring a weatherproof seal and here at Jones and Woolman UK, we recommend our in-situ weathering solution. This is a fibre-reinforced, cold-applied liquid that offers quick, straightforward installation and long-term durability. On this page, you can download a technical drawing that provides full details on how to install a load-bearing curb on a composite roof.
